- Surfcommunity.com - A blog that a surfer created to communicate with fellow surfers and photographers around the world. People can upload photos and captions that are then streamed onto the home page for all to see. It is useful because surfers can see how techniques differentiate around the world. Also, they can try and pick their next surf destinations based on pictures.
- Surfline- Many apps such as “surfline” can provide significant information to surfers and those interested in it. The app tells about local weather and wave patterns, as well as currents. Once someone is an experienced surfer, this app can help them figure out a prime time to surf, rather than tgetting in the water and figuring it out the hard way.
- Surfer Magazine - Since 1960, surfers around the world have subscribed to this magazine. Although it does not give real time weather and current patterns like an app is able to, it can give insight on technique. The magazine regularly features famous surfers, who give advice and teach readers how to enhance their surf.
- Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii - Rated #1 “surf town” by National Geographic, this Hawaiian town features the most “consistent waves, inviting accommodations, friendly locals, fun nightlife, delicious food, and plenty of activities” (Endo, 2013). Professional surfers from around the world travel to Haleness for these reasons.
- Billabong Surf - Billabong Surf is a smaller branch of the Billabong Corporation. Based mainly on outdoor sportswear, surf is a huge part of the company. They sponsor numerous surfers around the world, who in turn support their company and wear the clothing. Additionally, they hold contests around the world to rank professional surfers and create competition among the community.
- Surfers - There’s no better insight on surfing than to talk to an actual surfer. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a professional- anyone who has been out on the water can offer input into my research. This is a crucial resource because surfers can tell actual stories of their time on the water.
